Construction & Permit Service During COVID-19 Emergency
IF YOU ARE AN APPLICANT WANTING TO ENGAGE IN CONSTRUCTION, PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION.
All construction activity has been suspended by order of the Contra Costa County Health Services Shelter (CCHS) Shelter-in-Place (SIP) Order HO-COVID19-03.
In an attempt to keep projects moving forward the City of Pittsburg Building Division has developed an electronic submittal process. The city will accept applications, process plans for review (in digital format), provide plan review comments when possible and collect fees for your project.
However, per the Building Division Supervisor, NO permit will be issued until such time as the SIP Order is modified or lifted.
As the COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented event, information and protocols are frequently changing. Please understand we are anxious for work to continue, but staff will continue to work remotely until such time as deemed safe to do otherwise.
If/when there is an alteration to the Order allowing construction to proceed, you will be contacted and informed if your project is allowed under the order to commence/ continue. Your permit will be emailed to you and/or you will be given instructions as to how to pick up your permit and/or plans. It is possible that customary processes for requesting inspections will change. Please be sure to read all instructions carefully once you receive them.
Any applicant who is claiming the project as “Essential”, shall first contact the Building Division Supervisor, KC Kampton, in writing for approval. Please email email@example.com, provide a full scope of work for the project and state why the project is exempt. If approved, we will issue the permit and you will be able to call for necessary inspections.
Contra Costa Health Order
This new Order will go into effect on 11:59 pm on Sunday May 3, 2020, and will remain in effect until 11:59 pm on Sunday May 31, 2020, unless the Health Officer amends or extends it. Most of the Prior Order’s restrictions remain in place.
Under the new Order, all construction projects can resume, provided they comply with the Construction Project Safety Protocols issued as part of the Order. (These protocols replace the COVID-19 Construction Field Safety Guidelines applicable to the Prior Order).
